Designed for a creative couple on a private Sacramento waterfront site, the Nautilus House reimagines the courtyard as both sculpture garden and solar clock.
The Challenge
The project needed to create privacy on a suburban lakefront site while supporting art, guests, daily life, entertaining, and a deep connection to water and landscape.
The Spire Move
Spire developed the house around a protected courtyard, sculptural form, curated views, studio spaces, and a concept inspired by the nautilus shell — using architecture to organize light, privacy, movement, and creative life.
The Result
A personal retreat where home, art, garden, water, and time are woven into one architectural experience.
